02 Nov Little Pee Dee
A little catch up is due. As you saw in Dave’s self titled post “look up idiot” we learned that we have to be extra extra aware of low hanging anything. The pecans pelting our Christopher Robin became a blessing in disguise. Had Dave not climbed onto the roof, never would have known that we took out the antenna. See blessing right. Also realizing the battery on our big guy CR (Christopher Robin) isn’t holding a charge. Not good when your new home is days in our possession. Time to dance between the dealer that sold us this rig and the manufacturer. Surprisingly handling this frustration pretty well. Not sure at this point who or how to handle this, so we move on.

The Steinmetz 🙂
We made our way from beautiful Beaufort to outside Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. A very long overdue visit with family led us to a sweet campground called Little Pee Dee State Park. These state parks are gems, that often times, other than the local community, seem to go unnoticed. Spanish moss hanging from live oaks. Eery and awesome all at the same time. Once again our hosts, Judy and Bob, went above and beyond with great meals and good conversation. Oh, and the laundry facilities were just wonderful. Seriously, a girl misses her washer and dryer when they aren’t right at her beck and call. I’m not losing sleep, but after a few weeks, when we aren’t connecting with folk we know, it’s back to laundry facilities at campgrounds which are…….hmmm.

Met this sweet guy/girl you see here. We affectionately named “Little Pee Dee”. If only Dave wasn’t allergic to this species, I would have scooped him up and hid him in my drawer. Sadly, we learned from the lovely camp hosts, Mike and Lisa at this campground, that it is very common in the area for people to discard dogs and cats that they no longer want. This makes my blood boil.

A lovely hike through the park with Ranger Rowdy and some other campers finished up our stay in SC. Reality check here. That walk was sooooo needed as we are sitting on our bums a lot. Note to self. Walk more. Feels great!

Not necessarily planned, but every stop we have made along the way so far is taking us about 3 or so hours to get to. In the past, pre “sabbatical”, we didn’t have the luxury of time on our side, so our trips usually had long days of driving (like 10 hours at a clip) to maximize our time at our destination . This slower turtle like travel has been a really nice change. Giving us the opportunity to drive slower, save on gas, not feel pressured. Ya know, getting 12 MPG as opposed to 9 MPG is a true gift indeed.
So Dave is learning to drive CR with skill and ease. I am learning to be a better co-pilot. Still can use improvement, but I’m coming along. Old dogs, new tricks!
Off to Savanah we go! So excited
For Us, It’s Not Abad Day 🙂
