17 Nov It’s A Dollar
Our new lifestyle has opened my eyes to a world that was always at the peripheral, but we were never knee deep in before, ladies and gentleman I am referring to the wonderful world of dollar stores . The traveling we have been doing has brought us face to face with vast amount of dollar stores and I never, I mean never, would have thought that there was this many Dollar Generals, Family Dollar and Dollar Trees out here. We have been frequent patrons lately and for the cheap staple type stuff you can’t beat it. My personal favorite is Dollar Tree because you know what , EVERYTHING’S A DOLLAR !!! When we are in our home base in Delaware, where there is no sales tax and you bring five items up to the counter and its five bucks, its very….. cathartic.
The big player in the dollar game has got to be Dollar General. You can’t swing a cat without hitting one (oh just relax, I’m not going to swing a cat !) Every small town has one, we’ve driven miles on secondary roads with farms and woods for miles and up pops one , literally in the middle of nowhere. You can’t find a gas station or God forbid a diner ( they don’t exist outside of New York metro area) but try not to trip over a Dollar General , I dare you. My latest discovery in the dollar store game is Dollar General Market , it’s a food store in a dollar store and its awesome . You can buy eggs and produce and even a decent steak, right next to all the dollar store regular stuff. Its not a dollar steak, but it was reasonable and we didn’t get sick , so home run on that purchase.
So I want all you Wegmans , Whole Foods and Trader Joes junkies to give DGM a chance when you see one.
Nope just kidding, I’d give up my favorite “anything” for a chance to have someone in a hawaiian shirt bag my groceries.
