So folks, we have left Georgia and arrived in St. Augustine FL. Although, not all of us will make it all the way down to St. Augustine. Yup, Christopher Robin (CR) needed some love and we dropped him off at a RV dealership in Jacksonville. Shout out to Travel Camp RV and especially Tiffany for her amazing attention to us and her working with the manufacturer Forest River to fix CR’s ills. Because CR’s visit to Travel Camp was a bit longer than we had expected, our stay with dear friends, BK and Amy in St. Augustine was extended. (My...

Our new lifestyle has opened my eyes to a world that was always at the peripheral, but we were never knee deep in before, ladies and gentleman I am referring to the wonderful world of dollar stores . The traveling we have been doing has brought us face to face with vast amount of dollar stores and I never, I mean never, would have thought that there was this many Dollar Generals, Family Dollar and Dollar Trees out here. We have been frequent patrons lately and for the cheap staple type stuff you can't beat it. My personal favorite is...

Like everyday life we run into our share of good people as well as bad people. When I say bad people I'm not implying they are are mean or nasty on purpose (and some are) . I'm saying that some people are just not good. But what I want to concentrate on are the good people that we've recently come across in our adventure so far. Our Columbus fifth wheel trailer that we have named Christopher Robin (the alternatives were worse) has had some issues , some in my control and some out. You see this is a very complex...

We are learning a lot about simple. Simple is to pack a lunch in the morning, so as we travel, we can stop at all these (quite lovely) rest stops along our route to our next campground. The rest stops we are coming across bear no resemblance to the ones we always stopped back and forth to visit parents in South Jersey, or a kids at college. No sir, these rest areas in the Carolina’s and Florida feel like little parks where we stop, eat, breathe, and move on. They are pretty and well maintained. Love seeing the pride the...

A little catch up is due. As you saw in Dave’s self titled post “look up idiot” we learned that we have to be extra extra aware of low hanging anything. The pecans pelting our Christopher Robin became a blessing in disguise. Had Dave not climbed onto the roof, never would have known that we took out the antenna. See blessing right. Also realizing the  battery on our big guy CR (Christopher Robin) isn’t holding a charge. Not good when your new home is days in our possession. Time to dance between the dealer that sold us this rig and...

The first week of travel is under our belt and we need to add a couple holes to tighten it up a little. The trailer is awesome, if not pretty friggen BIG, if I do say. Well, what ever do you mean Dave, you should be wielding that thing around like its a pop up. Well….not so much. Our home away from home is thirty seven feet long by twelve and a half feet tall and by my reckoning must be twenty seven foot wide, or feels like it when driving down narrow country roads with on-coming logging trailers on...

Hit the road officially on Sunday October 15th. Imagine, trying to imagine, what you feel you need to live out of your home on wheels for an extended period of time. It’s a task for sure. Between Dave and I, we must have been in and out of the camper, let’s exaggerate and say 1000 times. Well, it felt that way anyhow. Putting stuff in..pulling stuff out. It’s a balance of what “things” do I feel I “want” versus what I really “need”. In a RV, you are limited by space and weight. Man…space fills up fast and too many...

Hi there! Starting this blog with complete honesty. We are Amateurs. We are new to so many different experiences in 2017. We sold our home in Bergen County NJ (where we have both lived our entire lives) and became renters in Delaware. (Amateur Renters). We retired (or took a sabbatical- sabbatical feels less intense) from a 40 year career. (Amateur Retirees) We helped our youngest journey to a new apartment (Amateur Long Distance Parenting) and we celebrated the marriage of our oldest to the love of her life. (Amateur In Laws) We traded in our 12 year old car...

"I've got this feeling today's the day, I've got this feeling today's the day". This little ditty has been rummaging through my brain for a day or so now. Probably picked it up from an infomercial. Who sings this? It's driving me to google! I'll be right back with the answer. So for those of you have been screaming, "America, you idiot!" You are correct, but don't call me an idiot, that's not nice. It is however interesting that we will be seeing America soon. Not the band, the country. Hopefully by this time next month (give or take) Hedy and...
