The warmth of Arizona has met us with a big ol hug. Yeah for me and you, because I will not be commenting about the weather, other than telling you that I won’t be commenting about the weather. :) [caption id="attachment_797" align="aligncenter" width="225"] Pima County Fairgrounds Camping[/caption] We found our way to a sweet spot at the Pima County Fairgrounds, not far outside Tucson Arizona. Quite different than any other campground we have stayed at. This place was so interesting.  Besides its annual fair including 4H live stock and rodeo and rides, there are big name concerts, and merchandise shows year...

So I have to admit I am a bit behind on the blog posts.  You creative types out there know that sometimes you got the words or creative spark, and sometimes you don’t. Couple of weeks of “don’t” for me. Let’s see if I can jump start some thoughts. [caption id="attachment_772" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Franklin Mountain State Park. CR on the left[/caption] In our attempt to bid farewell to Big Bend and Texas and find our elusive warmer climate, we did a quick overnight in a state park near El Paso. It was a sweet place with five dry camping spots. The view...

Glen Campbell was an amazing artist. I so enjoy his music. But, contrary to the lyrics in the song, Galveston, which goes like this: “I still see her standing by the water, Standing there looking out to sea. And is she waiting there for me, On the beach where we used to run? Galveston, oh!” Dave and I saw fog…lots of it. I’ll explain. So our travels leaving Lake Ponchartrain were pretty uneventful, which when you are pulling a 37’ home on wheels behind you, you so appreciate uneventful very much. The sweet spot on that day’s travels was stopping...

A large part of what Hedy and I are doing involves navigation. Many, many years ago, in days of yore, this skill of figuring out what button to push on Garmin or Google maps, used to be called Map Reading. Children, this is an ancient skill handed down from father to son and mother to daughter and father to daughter...

We seem to have taken the weather we were hoping to leave behind with us. Rain and fog and cool air. In my head, the moment we headed out for part 2, the sun would be shining and the temperature would hover around 72. A light sweater would be enough for the gentle breeze. WAKE UP from you're daydreaming HEDY! Nights and mornings have been really cool, mixed with rain and wind. The flip flops and shorts I am excited to wear will have to remain on the shelf as we pull out thermals and fleece and rain gear to...

On the road again… Interesting and mixed emotions as we prepare to hit the road again. We had such a great time enjoying the holiday’s with our family and friends. Whether it was here at the beach where we now call “home” and being able to love and focus on our kids, or making a few trips back to NJ to celebrate wonderful life moments, special birthdays, bat mitzvah’s, or just traveling for doctor appointments. For me, these times to be with my people, are a salve to my spirit. Even if you don’t know me that well, it’s pretty...

Our travel today is taking us to a campground in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, near the Smoky Mountains. Part two, because several years back, on another camping adventure, we did swing by the Smokies, but the extent of that visit was seeing the visitor center pretty much. It was important to us that we actually get a little deeper into this national treasure. The highlight for me today (nope, I’m joking here) is that we are hitting some of our highest elevations and my sinuses are yelling at me. Timing here was not wonderful, but solider on we go. As we drive...

So, like we shared in our bio, we hope to check off as many as we are able to, National Parks, Monuments, Battlefields, Cemeteries, Heritage Corridors, Historic Areas, Historical Parks, Recreation Areas, Parkways, Rivers, Trails, Seashores. Seriously, when you start looking into all things National, the list is pretty impressive. Not sure what a lifetime of checking off this exhaustive list would look like, but we are hoping to put a small dent in it. Found this online and decided to share. https://nationalparkstraveler.org/national-parks-directory. Check off even one for yourself. You’ll be glad you did. Left Memphis and we made the decision...

Leaving Florida, our next destination was Tennessee. We had been to Nashville several years back and are excited to get back. But before we could get there, we needed (and wanted) to stop in Alabama. After about 5 or 6 hours on the road (including all the stops these aging souls need to make) we have about hit our limit for the day. What’s great about that is that we can. For this moment in time for us, there isn’t an urgency to get back to a job, a house, an aging parent. So we can take our time. The...

Heading to see what the Pan Handle of Florida is all about. You know, for all my years on this planet, other than Disney World and the Florida Keys (if you haven’t been, go, fast, cuz its wonderful anywhere in the Keys), this state hasn’t held much of a draw for me. I can honestly say that this new exploration of Florida has changed my previously clouded opinion. As we traveled from St. Augustine, we stayed one night at a campground, no joke, a stones throw away from the highway, called “A Stones Throw Campground” :) outside of Tallahassee. This type...
